Put on Your Tights!

Hello! Welcome to my blog! I'm so excited to talk about the two things I love most in this world...nutrition and fitness!!... well, almost.... I suppose there are a FEW things I love more, BUT life's Healthy Bits and Bites is definitely in the top 5.
So you might be thinking, where did all this enthusiasm come from?  How did these two things become so important to me you might ask? Well, it all started when I was 12 and became fascinated with my mom's Jane Fonda videos. Haha!  Jane Fonda was my hero.  I pretended to be her, leading my own imaginary group exercise classes and even wore the whole "onesie, tights, and leg warmer" getups...for a minute....They were just too itchy! So shorts and t-shirts would have to do.... I wanted calves and arms like Jane Fonda and wanted to do jumping jacks and high kicks while smiling ear to ear and never losing my breath.
When I got a little older I started attending aerobic classes at the local gym. Step aerobics and was my favorite, and then kickboxing. I was also very active in track and various dance teams. As a sophomore in high school I taught step aerobics for my P.E. class. It was horrifying!! Not to mention, that was the year of "the thong and tights!" Eeeeek!
In college I studied Dietetics. At summer breaks, I would frequent the library often reading every book they had on nutrition.  During the semester, my roommates had the immense pleasure of  my "healthful antics,"  savoring every last  delicious bite of my fat free white bean chocolate chip cookies...:) and of course my "famous" sugar free/fat free/taste free banana bread! Is your mouth watering right now? Haha...yum!
After getting married and having two babies, I decided to once again to pursue my "childhood fantasy" of teaching aerobics. I wanted to share my passion for health and fitness with everyone. And not necessarily on a Jane Fonda, barbie-doll idealistic sense of perfection. I wanted my enthusiasm to be authentic, transparent, and real. Imperfection IS beauty. And although Jane Fonda was my idol, I realized that I could still attain a level of health and wellness without having to LOOK like her. I could feel good starting from the inside out.  I am the real deal, authentically flawed....haha, and beautiful. Yet, I'm on this journey too.
One of my biggest goals as a fitness professional is to help people find their balance in fitness and nutrition, which will hopefully lead to optimal health,  greater energy,  empowerment, and peace of mind. And not every path is the same. As I hope to inspire people to greater health I want them to find that place that is realistic to them and promotes their best self. And yes, we'll all slip and fall time to time. That is life as we know it, right? Today is a new day...and tomorrow will be even better! So put on those tights and lets get to work!
